Friends: the blogging world is unlike any other place I’ve been. I’ve met wonderful people, exchanged stories and ideas, and, like most of you, struggle to keep up with the blogs I follow. I’ve even met some of you in person and that has been a great honor.
One regular contributor that I love to see posts and pictures from is Doug (Weggieboy’s blog; phainopepla95.com). I’d noticed that he hadn’t blogged anything since January 14.
Concerned, I asked another great blogger (cb; contrafactual.com) if he’d heard anything from Doug. cb was right on the case and in a matter of days was able to ascertain that Doug had fallen seriously ill and was in the hospital. (cb has his hands full like most of us do, yet he found a way and took the time to get people to give him info on Doug. I’m in awe of this guy.)

Hey, it worked this time…so here goes. Doug didn’t show up for his job at the museum which was not like him at all. One of his co-workers went to his home and found him very ill. She called the ambulance, and he was taken to the Scottsbluff, NE Hospital, where he was in the ICU in critical condition (on Jan. 15). His autoimmune disease, GPA, which had been in remission for over 10 years, is back.
He was then transferred to the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, where they could better take care of him. He was still in ICU and on kidney dialysis. Last Friday, he was again moved by ambulance to Amberwood Court Care Center in Denver for rehab. He has physical therapy to strengthen his legs and memory and is on kidney dialysis 3 times a week. The last time I talked to him, he said he may be transferred again to Cheyenne, WY or back to Scottsbluff. I had a heck of a time finding him after he left U Colorado Hospital. He misses his kitty boys terribly, but someone is taking care of them. Doug is in very good spirits and determined to get back home.
Just talked to him and he most likely be at Amberwood Court Care Center until the end of the month. The address is: 4686 E Ashbury Circle, Denver, CO 80222
