Contrafactual 
Commercial space programs do seem to be more and more viable. Best of all, they don’t have to deal with the vicissitudes of the dysfunctional US Congress for funding.

Keeping in mind that the commercial space programs are highly dependent on NASA funding and hence the US Congress. The primary difference is that the commercial space programs have more lattitude to try something new without micromanagement by NASA.

Hmm. unaware of that. They are tied into the same skimpy funding as NASA then and dependent on a Congress controlled by people who don’t believe in big government or science. Sad.

Commercial Crew (aka Manned Space Craft) for the ISS is NASA funded.
Commercial satellite launches are privately funded.
